Today I flunched with two friends and our social dance professor and learned so many cool things about her! For instance, she used to live in the Dominican Republic and grew up poor in Arkansas but worked hard to be super successful in the dance world today. Now she consults for Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance (US and Canada) and works at Duke and has a great lifestyle. The best part is that this is basically her dream job, she absolutely loves everything she’s doing and it’s so impressive how successful she’s become!
Her life is basically the one I want. To do something and know that I’m good at it, to not only love it but have a great passion for it in a way to give me a good home and family. She is definitely one of the greatst people I’ve met here so far.
I went with my friend’s very cultured, nice, and open family to this little restaurant near the Durham Farmer’s Maket named the Piedmont for dinner. It relies solely on local farmer produce and was very healthy and organic. The food was good but not the best.
When I came home, I bought a milkshake.
I saw an old man, a gentleman if you will, riding a Segway down Sciece Dr. just like it were a car or a bike.
We had dinner in the Tobacco District with Faith who’s visiting EmbraceUganda! It was so wonderful seeing her and being reminded of all the connections we made there… She was Faith and even in America she was unphased and strong and kind and Faith. We also saw Moses who was much, much smaller and somehow more adorable and wearing red converse. All of the Schaads are amazing people but I’m sorry, I have to choose a favorite. And it’s Moses.
